Welcome to my World of Photos!

Hello and welcome to my World of Photos. My name is Simon Park. Here is a little bit about how I got started in photography:
I have been taking photos most of my life. I got my first camera back in the 80’s it was one of the cheapest things you could lay your hands on - a 35mm camera with a built in flash – Wow! But it worked, until I went to Venice and lost a whole roll of film when the camera did not roll the film in correctly. A few years later I got a cool digital camera - moved up in the world. I went from taking 50 pictures a year to taking 50 pictures a week.
When my son was born, 50 shots a week became 50 a day. I quickly found that the point and shoot camera was too slow to capture my son’s milestone moments, so I bought myself a Canon DSLR – 5 pictures a second helped me catch his every movement. I have learned that to get the best images you also need the best lenses, so I now use a variety of those too.
Two years after my son was born, I quit my job as a retail manager in Iceland (the country, not the food store) and moved to Misawa, Japan with my family. To keep myself busy i started my own business in Photography i do a lot of freelance photography including babies, sports, special events, and families. I also photograph a lot of landscapes and sell them at bazaars here in Misawa, I also make postcards of Misawa and other things of instrest in Japan that you would not normally find in stores and sell at the local bazaars, all of which has been a lot of fun. It is a great feeling when you know other people like your work, and it’s not just your young one telling you that you’re the best.
I could go on all day, but I want you to have time to view all my photos. I would appreciate any comments, and please click on the tumbs up if you like the photo's. If you need a photographer for whatever occasion, just give me a call or send me an email. Thanks again for dropping by, and I hope you have fun viewing my work.

Best regards,
Simon Park

P.S My home page will always be “under construction.” I am always adding new photos, so please check often to see what’s new.

After having this page up for a few years, many people have been asking me what kind of equipment I use.

I have 2 pro DSLR cameras: a full frame Canon 5D mark2 and a Canon 40D APSc. I also have 4 of Canon's high-end lenses: a 16-35mm 2.8Lwide angel, a 24-70mm 2.8L, and a 70-200mm 2.8Lis telephoto & 100mm Macro 2.8L.

For my studio setup, I use Hensel and have a few flashes. I have 6 different backdrops to choose from.

For software I use many kinds. I start with my favorite, Adobe Lightroom 3. This is the only way I can find anything these days. When you have over 40.000 images, it sometimes gets hard to find the one you're looking for, but with Lightroom just type in keywords and in seconds you have what you need (assuming you inserted your keywords in the first place).
Then I use Photoshop CS5 to finish the job that lightroom can not do. I have to say this program is a must have for photographers.
